Ulster & Delaware Railroad Historical Society ABOUT THE  SOCIETY    

The Ulster & Delaware Railroad Historical Society is a chapter of the NRHS (National Railway Historical Society), focusing on the history of the railroads and related social, economic, and cultural institutions of the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions, with special concentration on the Ulster & Delaware Railroad and its predecessors [Rondout & Oswego; New York, Kingston & Syracuse; Stony Clove & Catskill Mountain; Kaaterskill; Hobart Branch Railroad; the first Delaware & Otsego], successors [Catskill Mountain Branch of the New York Central and of Penn Central], and immediate neighbors and connections [Delaware& Northern/Delaware & Eastern; Canajoharie & Catskill; Catskill Mountain; Catskill & Tannersville; Otis Elevating; Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley; Middleburg & Schoharie; Wallkill Valley; Delaware & Hudson at and around Oneonta and New York Central/West Shore at and around Kingston].

We are a not-for-profit corporation formed under the New York State Education Law, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under Code §501(c)(3) and eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.

The U&D RRHS and its members gather and preserve maps, photos, artifacts, and historical documents and information; publish a historical journal; and meet to discuss these and related topics.

Our publication is the Rip Van Winkle Flyer, a high-quality quarterly publication featuring detailed and signficant historic research.
